Torc of Donn (Artifact) – A gilt whalebone torc with carved knotwork depicting a procession of deal soul’s making their way to Donn’s stone palace under sea. The torc allows someone submerged in the sea to make their way between Earth and the Underworld. While submerged, the wearer can breathe normally and move normally in water, but this property fades if the wearer strays too far from the path between worlds.
Spiritus Pastille (Charm) – A small tablet that smolders and emits thick, fragrant smoke when lit. The smoke has three properties: it reveals the presence of ghosts, it attracts all ghosts in the area, it reveals the general disposition of a ghost (wraith or spectre).
Unbullets (Charm) – A box filled with 20 rounds of .44 Magnum ammunition: each bullet is tipped with jade. The bullets, when shot at a target, heal a target instead of harm them and feel quite pleasant.
Potion of Life (Charm) – A crimson liquid filling an ornately crafted crystal vial. The potion changes the life pattern of the imbiber, granting several benefits: immunity to aging, the ability to sense the state of one’s health, the ability to meditate before resting each day to restore lethal damage at a rate of 1 per hour, immunity to disease. The imbiber rolls Arete+5 dice, difficulty 7, when drinking this potion; the successes are applied directly to the duration scale for magical effects, but if 5 successes are achieved the change is permanent.
Shade Crystal (Artifact) – A disc-like, dull black crystal adorned with hieroglyphs which is set in a simple silver cage and attached to a plain, silver necklace. When worn, and personal quintessence is spent to empower the crystal, the wearer’s Arcane rating is increased to 5 until the the current passage of the sun or moon in the sky is completed, and the following passage of the opposing heavenly body is complete. Although this increased Arcane rating is benign to friends and family with sparing use, regular use will cause the permanent destruction of a person’s previously known existence to nearly all people and objects.
Valkyrie’s Staff (Artifact) – A simple, Blackthorn staff, six feet tall and unadorned. This staff is actually a spectre transformed into the shape of a staff. Through magical arts, the spectre has been forcibly disconnected from the Malfean hive-mind and put into a state of torpor, but quintessence of a distinctly dark nature can rouse the spectre and cause it to temporarily rejoin the Malfean hive-mind. If the quintessence provided is personal quintessence of the appropriate resonance, the contributor temporarily joins the Malfean hive-mind and gains the innate dark sight of a spectre, allowing the contributor to see the Shadowlands and recognize proximity to death or Oblivion in other beings. If a willpower is contributed, as well as a personal quintessence, the contributor gains an innate resistance to damage caused by Oblivion temporarily, but still may suffer Harrowings or other ill effects for being in close proximity to Oblivion. It is rumoured that any user of this artifact which is not a Valkyrie will suffer a gruesome demise.
Ex Libris Necro – A blasphemous tome on the raising of the dead: human skin binding, written in blood, the usual.
Asklepian Tractate – An ancient book written in Classical Greek, several copies of this grimoire exists, and the original is said to have been penned by Asklepios himself. The book is a treatise on the healing arts and herbal remedies. The grimoire can teach Arete 2 and Life 3, and the paradigm is suitable for Hermetics and Verbena.
The Book of Shadows of Maeve McKinnon – This enormous tome (3 feet high, by 2 feet wide, and 5 inches deep) is secured by a sturdy and magically reinforced lock, has vellum pages, and a hand-tooled black leather over brass cover. The tome contains the life story of Maeve McKinnon, a Verbena Master, in a flamboyant script, and relates the life of a simple farm girl thrust into a series of misadventures. Magical truths are sprinkled throughout the book in parables which attest to the intelligence of the simple farm girl who wrote it. This grimoire gives a free pip in Faerie Lore and Wraith Lore, and can teach Arete 3, Entropy 2, Forces 3, and Life 3, and the paradigm is suitable for Verbena and Aided factions of the Euthanatos, and the rare Hermetic that claims to be of House Diedne.
The Book of Thoth – This grimoire consists of an extensive collection of papyrus sheets bearing Egyptian hieroglyphics; however, the papyrus looks on the edge of collapse and the magic of the grimoire is likely the only thing still holding the sheets together. The collection consists of a dialogue between “the-one-who-loves-knowledge” and Thoth on various aspects of Egyptian philosophy and society, from language to how the Gods themselves may be known. The grimoire can teach Correspondence 2, Entropy 3, Mind 3, Spirit 3-5, and Time 2, and the paradigm is suitable for Hermetics, some Choristers, some Euthanatos, some Etherites, some Dreamspeakers, and some Verbena
Orphic Hymns – A series of poems purportedly produced by Orpheus, these hymns follow the epic life of Orpheus, from his early life until his last night. These hymns are much more extensive than the Orphic Hymns known to the Sleeper world, and urge one to embrace the key beliefs of the Orphic Mysteries. This grimoire requires performance to be used properly: a lyre must accompany the singing of the verses, but the singing is what is truly important, and requires 3 in Performance or 2 in Music. The grimoire can teach Correspondence 2, Entropy 4-5, Forces 1-5, Prime 3, Spirit 1-4, Time 2, and the paradigm is suitable for Akashics, Choristers, Ecstatics, Dreamspeakers, Euthanatos, some Hermetics.
The Cloud Dance of Eternal Vision and Joy – This grimore consists of a series of diagrams of precise movements, drawn on rice paper, that are to be taken in the practice of a kata: the Cloud Dance of Eternal Vision and Joy. Three haiku accompany each of the 101 diagrams to help the student understand the meaning behind each movement. To perform this kata, the movements must first be studied thoroughly, requiring an Intelligence and Dexterity of 4 and Do rating of 3. Although the study of the kata takes a week to learn, the kata can be performed in an hour and should be performed in as serene a location as the student can manage. The grimoire can teach Arete 3, Correspondence 3, Mind 2, and the paradigm is suitable for Akashics.
